Through the faint nlc veil on 11-12/6/10, Comet 2009 R1. Should brighten some more over the next week.

Despite the disappointing lack of NLC at this location over the weekend I had a go at finding Comet Garradd. Even with the darkening skies the comet was right on the edge of visibility in my 4 inch refractor. Here's a picture taken with a DSLR through the scope. 7 x 1min exposures. cheers, Bill.

Comet Garradd is moving into the Milky Way and is a nice sight in the scope. About half a mag bright than M71 visually. Here's a shot from Saturday night. M71 is the cluster centre left. Cheers, Bill.

Hi All, A rather short nlc season this summer! Now we're back into winter it astronomy time. From my lattitude there are 4 comets with reach of my small telescope/binoculars. Attached is a picture taken at the weekend of Comet Lovejoy. Here's hoping Comet ISON is spectacular at the end of the month. Cheers, Bill. Attachments:
