This was a remarkably bright and eerie NLC display, enhanced by brooding dark tropospheric clouds above and the roar of the incoming tide. Attached image taken from Lossiemouth at 00:30 UT this morning. Attachments:

Very beautiful pic, Alan! Scotland must be the land of NLCs, I think, this year you had lots of nice displays! :-) Is there any tourist agency to organize holidays for NLC watchers? :-))

Fantastic display you got there !! Yes, Scotland is the land of NLC, but the whole northern Europe is, no ? I'm in vacation at Rotterdam, a city that I've know because I spent 6 month here as an exchange student, and I've seen a lot of NLC. This is one of the good reason to get back in this city of Holland. And I've seen some NLC this night, after sunset, and before sunrise : a première for me ! At 23h16 : Later, and with 18 mm But the best was in the morning. You can find more here www.db-prods.net/blog/2010/07/16/les-voiles-merveilleux-etaient-la-nlc-le-16-juillet-2010/Hope that it's not a problem to post here, because I think this is the same display, and this avoid a double post of the same date.

Great shots from everybody . The sky cleared here (in part) in West Yorkshire ca 01:50 UT and I grabbed the camera for a quick twilight session before dawn , direct from my driveway. My piccies are here www.flickr.com/photos/50383478@N02/ Len E

Fantastic shots all of you! I've been having much less luck, only seen a couple of displays so far this season...
