Holy Moley! What a display!, for about an hour it was a genuine brightness 5, top of the scale casting diffuse shadows. Even with the gain turned down to try and prevent saturation my cctv system still got saturated! astonishing with the main elements of NLC still in the sky at 3.50 BST as well as fainter clouds extending across half the sky. The timelapse is very good. And the pictures are great ! Like the zoomed one, the structures are very delicate.

It seems to have been a cracking display all round.
What was amazing was the detail through binoculars.
I would urge everyone to spend some time viewing the nlc with binoculars. It is remarkable the structures and textures that are visible. The more you look the more you see!
As Tom says he was a few yards east, if you look really closely at the allsky picture there is a head visible (faintly) at about 2 on the clock face, I'd say about 3 yards east!

Hi Bill, Many thanks! Yes, I was thinking the very same thing when I saw your excellent pictures. Last night was one of the best that I have seen here. My first NLC was on July 23/24 1986..

Hi folks, Had a productive shoot on July 3rd in the Welsh mountains, between about 0220 and 0340BST. Of the 20 or so shots I liked this was the best. The mountain is Aran Fawddwy. Cheers - John Attachments:
