I've finally managed to scribble down some thoughts, admittedly in an NLC hunting-induced sleepless state, about classifying 'streaks with billows alongside.'
I'd be grateful if those with a more technical interest in NLC would read through and highlight any deficiencies of thought and/or expression, such as accompany sleep deprivation (I've edited it five times since writing this post!)

I'm not a big fan of classification really. With the ubiquity of photography now, the classification system seems to lend little to understanding, and indeed might get in the way of it sometimes.
