It's a good photo, but I can't see any evidence of NLC at all within it. J. Not a good photo because of the very moist air... so I could not catch the details. (RH was 96% in the evening, there was a thin fog by the hills in the direction of the pics.) The evidence was to see the webcam capture of another place (camera direction is North): met.hu/archives/getfila.php?p=44&prod=bysi20080618_2015.jpgThe other evidence can't be seen from one or two photos: the faint bands were brightening from 19:45 UTC to 20:15 UTC while all other objects were darkening.

Hi ediacara, It's another tricky one to judge from photographic evidence alone and reminiscent of some of the images submitted back in May. As always, the best advice is to report as much information as possible when observing faint NLC's with diffuse structure, more so when haze or tropospheric cloud is present. If there is ever any doubt simply report as a 'possible' and confirmation can then be sought. It is vital that the reports are submitted though, so very many thank for sending this one in. Tom

I've collected the pics taken yesterday evening: ediacara7.atw.hu/0618nlcThe first pic is the webcam capture (webcam is about 40kms south of my place) with my pics following: 3 panorama pics, then the single pics. The brightest part of the display was directly North, _not_ NW where the Sun had set. As I've said, the bands became brighter as the sky darkened. Due to the very high RH of the air no details could be observed. I'm waiting for the follow-up tonight.
