NLC just starting to appear low to NNW from Forres at 2220 UTC. Awoke again 0220 UTC with NLC still visible to NNE but still quite low (max elevation around 15 Deg)

Fraid not. Don't have a digital SLR yet. Must get one soon or it'll be too late for this year.

I am not sure if I saw NLCs last night. There was a strange bright field of clouds in East. I haven't reviewed the images yet, but will post them as soon as I can. Might be some NLCs, but might not. I was not sure last night.

What is the Sarychev S02 layer? Sulphur dioxide emissions from the Sarychev volcano in russia that erupted earlier in the summer. It has had the effect of producing some dramatic sunrises and sunsets for some people.
