Hi Folks, With the new NLC season now upon us and observations starting to come in I would like to draw to peoples attention some image posting guidelines which we would like forum members to observe when posting up images. It would be great in the ideal world to be able to post up huge high res images, unfortunately size is money on the internet and this forum is governed by the same constraints. Please can forum members ensure that images posted are no more than 800x800 pixels and that image size does not exceed 150kb. Most image hosting sights, eg tinypic etc, have a 'resize' facility as you upload your images that does this automatically, all you have to do is tick the appropriate box. Alternatively the software that comes with your digital camera will allow you to do this. I hope you can all appreciate the reasoning behind this decision - not everybody has broadband, alot of people are accessing the site on mobile devices, oversized images are difficult to view in the context of a thread, and, as said before the cost implications. Thanks for your understanding with this and we will try to be tolerant of this as people get used to it within reason, but the last thing we want to do is to have to delete your fabulous pickies! Cheers! Mark

Hi,
Just a reminder to everyone about the image sizes. See markt's posting above.
Also please ensure that submissions are double dated. That is, for example, 2012 June 28/29. This is to ensure that the night on which the display happens is identified unambiguoulsy.
At the end of the month the night of 31st May into 1st June use May 31/32 and similarly for June 30th into 1st July use June 30/31. (where else do you get to make up your own calendar days!)
This is a bit more relevant for submitting observations to the website but when there are big displays that occur both before and aftermidnight it makes following them easier.
Thanks, Bill.
