Some activity seen from here in Kendal earlier this morning, too. Nothing special, but still a better display than England's shambolic display against Algeria a few hours earlier...!!! www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=181919&id=543617930&l=c4a7483082Was surprised that as 3am approached the features and structures in the NW were brightening. Had high hopes for them until a bank of cloud rolled over them. Oh well, maybe tonight...

Hi, The display looked very uninspiring to start with but after 00.30 UT it really picked up. Quite bright with complex features in the nw. Thought it might have been an elusive type L developing but alas no. Theres a very brief annimation at www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4KseV_hQAsHere's hoping for some more. cheers, Bill.

Sounds good! Unfortunately those "complex features" were hidden from me by the one big bank of cloud in the sky. Oh well, onwards!

Nice pics, Tom. One thing I love about observing NLC - and about this forum - is that I can look at pictures of a display taken by other people and recognise the same features I saw from here. Can't wait til we all have a really major display to photograph...

We haven't had a bright, complex early evening event yet - I think interest will increase when (or if!) that happens. Has been fairly quiet so far...

Yep, Definitely the first substantial one here for 2010. Unfortunately my view of the sky with the home video system is limited to the n-ne so I missed the more complex elements of last nights display. However the evenings recording is at www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMpUM2r5BfIThings are looking not too bad so far for tonight. If you read this Tom, I'll see you at the usual time and place. cheers, Bill.
