Hi Guys We've just spend a long weekend in south sweden, mainly for a birthday and midsummer, but I caught a couple of NLCs as well. I know, these images are not exactly impressive, but keep in mind, that in Katrineholm (16E,59N) the sun only makes it a poor 7° below the horizon at local midnight. In the first night, a faint band was visible (18.-19.06.2010): In the second night a rather large field of NLCs was showing up over our lake(19.-20.06.2010): The third night was the most impressive. In the midsummer night the NLCs were spread over the whole sky, far beyond the zenith. (20.-21.06.2010): , note that the 2nd image was stitched from five single shots with equal settings. In the last night another faint band showed up to farewell the return to the UK the next day (21.-22.06.2010): If you compare the images from 20.-21.06. from my position and an image from Århus from the same night ( www.nlcnet.co.uk/nlcreps.htm, www.kersland.plus.com//2010images/arhus/062021/nlc0197.jpg) it is quite nice to see how the field extends further south from where I was observing it. I must've been quite exactly under the two long structures. Fortunately the weather here in Bath is just as good as it was in sweden, so fingers crossed for more images from here :-) Cheers! André (moved from wrong board ...)
