Hi,
I didn't want to put this bit as an announcement as this is only my own opinion however I would like hear if others have feelings on the subject.
All users have their own username as suits individual tastes and perhaps being an open forum a degree of anonymity is felt to maintain personal online security. That is all perfectly understandable.
However I always find it a bit odd when commenting on a posting or trying to message someone, without knowing how to address the person or with the opening "Hi wondersplurge...."
Would users please consider ending their postings with a real(ish) name or perhaps initials. I think it just makes even electronic correspondence a bit more pleasant.
Cheers, Bill.

Hi BillW (!)
A bit of a non-issue, I feel.

Hi,
Thanks for the comments, but it definitely is an issue because a large number of new sign on's are distinctly dodgy. By that I mean there are a lot of odd sign ons using commercial urls as home urls and have not ever posted. Mark, Tom and Jo can confirm this.
A little humanisation helps filter such things when postings are made as it tends to indicate that someone real is at the keyboard. However if people wish to be greeted purely by their chosen usernames that is up to them.
We'll see if anyone else has any thoughts on the matter.
Why the exclamation mark?, that is a moniker of my real name and was changed from my other moniker to fit in with other online sites. No hidden change of identity.
I don't think in four years of taking part I have ever not signed as "Bill" When people message or reply they have also used "Bill", never until now, BillW or bward.
Bill.
