I just saw a pic someone put up on Facebook. He captured some NLC's last night around 00.43, low on the horizon, but they were there! The pic location was East Lothian, Scotland.

Hi Adrian,
can you post a link to the picture in question? The IAP-Radar at Andenes (MAARSY) has already detected mesospheric echoes for a week or so, and there have been echoes at OSWIN (Kühlungsborn, Germany) on May 19 (strong), May 20 (rather weak), and May 22 (rather weak). But there has been no visual sighting from Germany, yet.
Best regards,
Stefan

Hi Adrian,
why not providing a deep link just to the pic?
Best regards,
Stefan

Here you are , Stefank www.blipfoto.com/entry/3089722 . Looks authentic. I had negative visual obs from Yorkshires South Pennines between 21:30 UT & 22:30 UT . Clouded out by terrestrial clouds after a good start.

Yes, the season is certainly underway. The automatic camera at Port Glasgow, Scotland recorded the May 22-23 event (only the very faint upper parts though, above a low cloud bank) from 01:15-01:30 UT. The display was also picked up from Fife, Scotland, where it was clearer: www.flickr.com/photos/corinnemills/8796827263/An encouraging start to the season and one of the earliest, confirmed sightings I can recall!
