Yesterday evening I watched a thunderstorm in the NNW (at a distance of about 80 km according to radar). I tried lightning-photography to capture a so called "bolt from the blue". This didn't work out, since all lightning was IC (intra-cloud). However, I was a bit suprised to see NLC in the NW for about 20 minutes (time was between 19:40 and 20:00 UTC). So I could make nice captures of a distant thunderstorm with NLC:
