Interesting, but I'd like to know how the 3% bit was derived. By mass?, by volume? how was the experimental data reduced to give the figure? I know it's for public consumption but it's like recent graphics of auroral development (February's Sky and Telescope) with a starry flash symbol where something magical happens then everything else falls into place. It's also a bit frustrating to hear it as if this is all new when everyone on this forum knows it's not! Cheers, Bill.

I'm no expert but if there is a link I wonder if the Camelopardalids 'storm' predicted might lead to more material in the mesosphere this year?
