I can see NLCs emerging now from Durham, just on 23UT. Looks structured and rising about 5 or 6 degrees in altitude.

Can confirm this - seen from Wallsend 2330z. Types I,II,O, brightness II. A bit brighter, brightness II - III with bright knots, type S. Apologies for poor picture quality sodium light & double glazing! Les

That's a beauty Tom and Lesc. Excellent images. I seen a glimpse of this display from 23.10 - 23.30 UT through a gap in the clouds. It already looked to be of type 4 brightness with IIa white bands in S. Perseus and an IVc golden whirl in the NE about 10 degrees high then I was overcast for the rest of the night. Looks like it turned into a cracker!

Things could only get better, this complex NLC was captured at 02z looking east. The Pleiades (M45?) are in the centre of the shot with the NLC extending to my SW. Les
