Back in June 2006 I saw some strange looking clouds in the night sky a bit after Midnight on an early June evening. I posted a couple of photos on the web and linked them to a post on the EAAS forum - this was at a time when it was any good. A couple of experts responded that what I'd seen was the start of an NLC display and so it turned out to be - indeed I got on the SW.com frontpage, printed in the local paper, interviewed on the radio and quite a lot more as a result of that earlier e-conversation.
I came here last year with a lot to contribute and hoped to hook up with like-minded, open-minded guys who just loved observing and photographing this pheonomenon.
This year it looks like I'm in the wrong place. Some of the observers that I respect the most are being denigrated here just because others haven't shared their observations. That's not science, that's madness - "I didn't see anything" is not a valid observing report and "Oooh, I didn't see anything in your photo" just because it wasn't FAB is about as invalid as a comment can be.
So I have no brilliant NLC observations for 2008, but there will be some no doubt, but I'll not bother posting them here until the minds open up a bit.
So it's A dios, and maybe Arriverderci.
Cheers,
Paul.

This years season has certainly generated some 'discussion' over the last 6 weeks or so, and the result of this is the clear frustration of some of the members of the forum.
This is a shame given the one thing we're all passionate about, NLC's. Their presence or absence has become so hotly contested to the point it has driven a wedge down our membership... This is not the way our forum should be...
I've noticed the absence of Martin for the last week or so, and to be perfectly honest have missed his contributions - those of you who browse spaceweather.com will know he's had some great observations of NLC's in the past couple of days alone. It says something to me about the 'vibe' on here when he feels he can't share them here.
There isn't a 'magic paragraph' that can be wrote to wash the sour taste from people mouths, but I know i'm not alone when I say we do not want to be losing the contributions of members. The NLC season has just started in earnest, I for one are excited about this but are also annoyed we have members who have been ostracised. I just hope the situation can be put right...
