From Sant Vicenç de Castellet (41.7°N) I observed dim noctilucent clouds last evening: www.lightningwizard.com/showphoto.php?photoid=1219I did not observe anything in the early morning. These are the first I saw this season, but I may have missed some. cheers Oscar

I think this must be the lowest latitude sighting, so far, for 2008. Also, to my knowledge, the first time NLC has be reported from Spain.

Very interesting Oscar that you could catch them. Here is an impression from approx 1h later from NE Germany looking to ~NNW. I tried a f=200mm panorama view. Very nice and bright display. Sorry for the light pollution on the left part... Click for a large one if you like (220kb): 3sky.de/NLC/NLC2/2008/080713/8335bis40.JPGOlaf

Yes, I saw many beautiful images of this night also of The Netherlands where I come from - too bad I miss many beautiful NLC since I live below 44°. Last year I did get a nice NLC display from Toulouse and there was a great display from Portugal the same night. Now on SpaceWeather a report from Turkey, 40°N. I still hope to get at least something similar as last year. Fortunately I have a great view of the sky from my roof terrace. Actually the observing advantage so far south is that you actually have a reasonably long night even in summer, with NLCs only possible around 2030 and 0325 UTC. So you can sleep in between without missing anything Oscar
