Dear members of the mailing list,
Some days ago I updated my NLC-observations:
home.eduhi.at/member/nature/met/nlc/nlcobs.htm
You can have a look at my observations intervals of the year 2007:
home.eduhi.at/member/nature/met/nlc/nlc-beob-intervalle.htm#07
Sorry, but my NLC websites of 2007 are written in German language only. If you cannot understand the text just enjoy the images and the comparison of the pictures of the same clouds taken from different places in Austria!
It was a very successful time with 5 different clouds. On July 14th I watched my 32nd NLC since 1995!
2007 some more observers from Vienna and surroundings started a campaign watching NLCs - together we observed noctilucent clouds during 9 intervals in Austria 2007.
The most spectacular phenomenon occurred at 24th of June. At Schlaegl the electric blue structures reached a hight of 40°! Therefore it was no big surprise that an observer in northern Italy took an image at Verghereto (43° 47´ N; 12° 00´ E)! Fabrizio Melandri´s and mine picture show the same structures - the distance is about 560 km!
Compare the structures of the same NLC visible at Vienna Airport(photo by Andreas Pfoser) and Schlaegl (home.eduhi.at/member/nature/met/nlc/NLC2007/2007-06-24/kaiser-pfoser.htm)
Surprising that bands sometimes do not move, they are "fixed" within the NLC like an orographic cloud caused by foehn in the Alps. I composed 3 images to a short animation:
We see less different structures moving from north to south through a band - the band brightens but does not change its position!
Two other NLCs are worth to be mentioned:
Another very nice display was visible and documented from different places in Austria (13th of July, home.eduhi.at/member/nature/met/nlc/NLC2007/NLC2007.htm#Weitere):
I hope during next weeks I get the time to update my webpages with the my 2 NLC observations of 2008. First I have to scan the slides....... ;-))
Best regards from Schlaegl,
Karl

Two other NLCs are worth to be mentioned:
- On 29th of June the weather was not good for observation: Clouds covered a NLC that was only visible in very small holes. This observation shows that photography can be very useful to confirm NLCs.
- On 1st of July Matthias Juchert (Vienna, www.serifone.de/obs20070701.html) and I (Schlaegl)
watched a very faint NLC for only about 5 minutes, then it disappeared again.
Another very nice display was visible and documented from different places in Austria (13th of July, home.eduhi.at/member/nature/met/nlc/NLC2007/NLC2007.htm#Weitere):
