After witnessing a strange "cloud" formation in the sky back in August, 2008 a friend in the know and fellow aviation buff explained to me that I was observing NLC.
A brief google search brought me here and I was able to share my observations with a very appreciative group.
The events of last year and the early warnings of this website have encouraged me to be on the look out once more this year.
While I have no idea what to expect this early in the year, I am keeping my "head up" while outside in the evenings.
Good fortune would have it that I am a weather observer and Flight Service Specialist for Nav Canada in Iqaluit.
Tonight the sky is so perfectly calm. In fact we've had almost a full week of very clear skies with only the occassional stratocumulus and some wave cloud being spotted over the hills when the winds pick up.
Best wishes to all in your sightings this year.
