Dear members of the list, Matthias, congratulation to your first sighting in Austria this year! Last night was a highlight for me - NLCs in the evening and in the morning in Schlaegl, Austria! In the evening I watched two clearly separated NLCs, one in northern direction, the second in the west. The brightness was only 1. During morning hours the azimuth of the NLC reached from 042° bis 120°!!!! Brightness: 2 It is a pity that observers in Hungary had a cloudy sky as satellite images show. I suppose that the NLC reached up to the zenith in eastern Europe! I wonder if we get reports from southern parts of Europe for example from Italy again (as last years). I took many images, but they are still in the camera (maybe for a short time only if the season goes on this way) Best regards from Schlaegl, Karl PS: My English is not very good to translate my descriptions posted in the German AKM forum. Some of you understand our language. Here is the link: www.meteoros.de/php/viewtopic.php?t=6910

Hi all, I have to say I'm extremely impressed with the quality of images! We really are producing some excellent records this year. I've just updated the website with the latest batch of report and photographs from this event: www.nlcnet.co.uk/nlcreps.htmIf any Forum posters would like their own reports added to this list please use the form at: www.nlcnet.co.uk/submit.htmThe last time I checked the stats on the 'latest sightings' page the hit numbers were averaging around 100,000 per month, so, it's good to know that our efforts are being viewed and appreciated! Wonderful display from last night's images. Pity those of in the north of Scotland were treated to frontal cloud which rolled in around sunset so missed the lot. Never mind.

Tom I'd love to add mine to that, earlier in this topic, but i'm not so sure about identfying shapes and such yet. Seeing this was my first display ever witnessed ( I'm 21 and only got to know about this 1 year ago ). Mind giving me a hand ?

I've used the document and the 'How to Report' page on NLCnet and came to the following: "I, IIIa, IIIb, IVa, IVb, IVc, P" I'm not totally sure what the Type P, billows, is but I think I captured them. Any confirmation before I try to add my report ?

Then, if possible, details on structure, brightness and elevation are very useful, as are photographs/sketches. Message me through the forum if you need more help. Tom

Hi again,
Just realised this explains why although we in NE Scotland had cloud cover (high AS CS) it was unusually bright at midnight (BST). In fact I had to double check the time. The NLC was clearly illuminating the cloud from above. Strange effect I must admit.

Hi, new to this but have photographed some here in Bath tonight and last night. Not sure how to add the pictures. They are beautiful, I have loved looking at others photos too which take me breath away. I am studying atmospheric physics so this is really interesting for me. Keep up the watch. Kez

Hi Kez, Welcome to the forum and congrats on your NLC sightings. TO upload photos to a website first you need to get onto an imagehosting site - eg tinypic.com, flickr etc. Follow there intructions to upload your photo and when you have uploaded it they will give you a line of code, similar to a web address - it will say it is for forum and message baords. All you need to do is copy and paste this into the message you post here and hey presto your image will appear in the body of text after you have posted it. *Hmmm, maybe we should have a 'better' description of how to upload images as a sticky topic on the main page? Anybody want to volunteer to write better instructions on this?* Mark
