Largest display of the year for me tonight, even more impressive than the June 17-18th display. Caught it quite by chance as it started very faint and we have a lot of rain around at the moment. There was thick cloud in the south, east and north east but amazingly a window stayed open to the west and north - very lucky indeed! I watched it between 21.30UT and 22.10UT and the detail/brightness intensified very quickly with wave structures all around from west to north - quite stunning! Mark 21.31UT - This is just as the NLC wave structures were starting to appear. The cloud at bottom centre was also displaying perfect Kelvin-Helholz structures as I was setting up with a fringe of curls along the top. I caught it just as these structures were breaking up. 21.43UT 21.47UT 21.49UT 21.57UT 21.58UT 22.02UT 22.07UT

I saw the same from Lancashire, the display was staggering and at one time reached almost across the sky, multiple forms in waves and bands, complex in parts and quite bright. This is, without any doubt, the best display I have ever seen

Great to see it in time lapse motion! At the start the display was 80-85 degrees at least down here, it felt very 3D with a full panorama. Sorry to hear you missed it PeteG, I was looking forward to seeing those stones at Avebury bathed in some electric blue.

what a great display and the photos are excellent, i only wish i got to see this one, as it happens it was cloudy here in Hampshire, well there was a nice clear spell before sunset, then it clouded up, and then it cleared again after the display had finished, which is just my luck! weather is nicer today so im hoping it will stay clear and there may be a repeat performance tonight, well, you have to hope dont you!
