NLC 2009 07 13/14 Austria

Dear readers,

Today evening we had another beautiful display in Austria. The NLC structures were very clear - bright bands, waves and veils. The elevation of the cloud was only 8°, the azimuth extension: 338° - 000 - 012°.

Hi all,

A absolutly marvelous display this evening. I'd rate the brightness
up to 4, so this show was probably the brightest, I've seen from
Vienna/Austria till today:

Great shots everyone Here was the somewhat less clear view from Mid Wales, UK of another large and bright show tonight. This display was high again reaching 70 degrees. Lots of fast moving cloud in front of the display and after 10 minutes the view vanished completely.

We observed this NLC from Hungary, too. First, at 19:15 UT, there were bluish bands, waves and lines about 20 degrees altitude by NNE-N.








After that yellowish and greenish (!!!) lines appeared in a northern horizon at 19:45 UT. The second one was stronger and brighter than the first one. I took the last picture at 20:18 UT, but Ákos Ujj from Bátonyterenye (Hungary) observed these NLC at 20:40 UT.

Here were pale bluish lines about 5 degrees altitude by N-NE.

I managed to observe what looked like a very bright display behind layers of trophospheric cloud (one layer was moving very fast, but the other was almost stationary) last night around 21:45UT me and my freind had gone to a location away from light pollution in the hope there would be a NLC, and also we wanted to see some glow worms and hopefully the shuttle fly over, well we got the NLC, and the glow worms, plus a nice bright pass of ISS but the shuttle was scrubbed again.
I woke up at 02:50UT this morning and noticed another display of NLC so i too ka few pics but it was starting to get to bright, so the display was fading, i am quite pleased of my pic of NLC with Venus! i have done a bit of editing with the contrast in the pics
