Just a short note to flag up some aurora activity over the last few days www.spaceweather.com/aurora/gallery_01jul09.htm I have not heard of anything (or seen )anything over the UK but it was suggested a Kp6 had been flagged over here. Could be 'fun' with aurora , NLC and boosted meteor activity . Time for nocturnal mode ( night life on and sleep during the day ) Len E

I think the outburst occurred too late for Europe (around 06:00 UT) but I have wondered if any observers in USA/Canada would hit lucky.

All of the images on spaceweather came from stateside. If you look at the historical data from POES www.swpc.noaa.gov/pmap/Plots.html you'll see a few points throughout the evening and early hours the KP was touching 6, though if you look at the graphics the closest the edge of the auroral oval got to the UK at anytime was the Faroe isles. I guess there's a SLIM possibility some people may have caught some auroral activity on their NLC images, but I suspect if any aurora was captured then it would be over a sea horizon and it would be low toward the horizon. They would be good images if tho if somebody had snapped them
