Hello All, In 2007 markt made mention of the possibility of increased cosmic ray strikes due to the low solar activity. Well if your reading this Mark then you may have hit the nail on the head. I didn't notice anything at the time (2007) but now! (late 2010) I've been getting nights when there are more cosmic ray strikes than meteors detected. A few weeks ago as an experiment I turned on one of my watec cameras but left the lens cap on (an almost perverse thing to do!!!) and in one hour I got over 20 cosmic ray strikes. So here's a way of doing a sort of solar astronomy at night! AND with the lens cap on!!! It is truly bizzare. I'm working on a primitive CR detector using photodiodes. If it works I'll let you know. Cheers, Bill.
