Hi, I was wondering if anyone has an interest in things ornithilogical? I've never seen a robin in the summer before yet I have just seen one in the garden! Is it lost?, should in not be somewhere else at this time of the year or is Pacha Mama giving us northeners a bit of bad news....

Slight interest; like to know what all the birdies are, if i'm away on holiday somewhere and there's an RSPB reserve will have a mooch with a pair of bins. But this interest applies to all things wildlife and to do with nature in general...

More developments on the bird front. It appears that Mr Robin seems to have been a Mrs Robin and I now have a baby robin skipping about the garden now too. I don't know if this is odd or not but I normally associate such birds with winter! We'll see if it snows next week.... Bill.

We have a resident (non-migratory) population of robins in the uk, but they are also joined in the winter by migrants from Scandinavia. (Hmmm, makes me think - I have not seen any ref. to our robins going over there in summer, maybe I've not looked/read well enough ! ) Our robins are quite clever, in old books they are not listed as visitors to bird-feeder/tables, but they learned, they are now quite adept at teasing out the peanuts.
