Members of Kendal's Eddington Astronomical Society played hide and seek with an absolutely evil bank of fog early on the morning of the 30th, in an attempt to see our first NLC of the season. We eventually ended up in a layby half an hour north of Kendal, up above the fog, and managed to see a faint but structured display of NLC low in the north. It looked a lot better on long exposure photographs than it did to the eye. As an added bonus we enjoyed a very bright ISS pass as we prepared to pack up and go home at 3.15am... Hopefully we'll get to see a major display soon. Attachments:

Hi, Well done that's a good effort! It's good to see people really looking for these weaker, early occurrences. This is the best start to a nlc season I think I've seen. Already there have been some nice images without any ambiguity. Let's hope it's a sign of better things to come! cheers, Bill.
