Hi guy's and thanks to Martin for the tip off re this forum. My first experience of NLC's was probably in the late 1960's early 1970's when I used to travel to use the 10-Cooke at Mills Obs in Dundee. My knowledge of them was enhanced somewhat by knowing the likes of Harry Ford, Dave Gavine and Ken Kennedy, so NLC's and I go back a long way! It's a great idea to have a forum dedicated to these observations, well done Tom on setting it up.
John C McConell FRAS.

Hi John,
Great to have you here! I've been to the Mills Observatory in Dundee - pretty sure I have a photo of the 10" Cooke somewhere! I'll see if I can find it - I think it's film :-)
It's a year ago this weekend that you confirmed my first NLC sighting - got me on the radio and all sorts that one!
Clear skies,
Paul.

John I am very glad to see that you have joined this unique NLC forum. Someone with your years of NLC experience will be a great asset for us all. John and I have had (and still do) countless discussions on NLCs over the phone and I have heard some great stories of past sightings, NLC theories and the main people behind the NLC story. John is well known around the world for his collection of material and knowledge within the field of astronomical history - hope you don't me saying that John

Hi John,
Fantastic to see you here. Talking of the Mills Observatory, we held an NLC weekend there last year which was quite successful. Speakers included Ken Kennedy and Bill Ward and Dave Gavine.
Tom
